LOD invites you to an evening featuring the instrument changed American music culture forever and ultimately Rocked The World, the ELECTRIC GUITAR! Three of the best guitarists that have ever played Light of Day WinterFest will be onstage together at the WonderBar. Headlining the show is Grammy winner, the great ALBERT LEE, one of the most respected and renowned touring and session guitarists in music history, having worked with The Everly Brothers, Eric Clapton who has referred to him a “true virtuoso”, Emmylou Harris and Buddy Holly’s Crickets over his long and illustrious career. The British-born country-blues-rock artist started his career during the emerging rock ‘n’ roll scene of sixties London, when he swapped bands with the likes of Jimmy Page. In the middle slot is New York City’s POPA CHUBBY. Over the course of a career that spans 30 years, he has been a force of to be reckoned with on the guitar, and his tempestuous, soulful playing has never been more powerful. An imposing figure with a shaven head, tattooed arms, a goatee and a performance style he describes as “the Stooges meets Buddy Guy, Motörhead meets Muddy Waters, and Jimi Hendrix meets Robert Johnson,” Popa Chubby is an endearing character who is one of the genre’s most popular figures. Opening the show is the MATT O’REE BAND featuring Jersey guitar slinger MATT O’REE. Like many bands they’ve played shows, developed their sound, released records and quietly built a very respectable fan base. What makes MATT and the band different from all the others is that their local fan base includes Bruce Springsteen, David Bryan (Bon Jovi), Steve Cropper (Booker T & the MG’s), John Popper (Blues Traveler), Bernie Worell (P-Funk) and Hubert Sumlin (Howlin Wolf), all of whom had volunteered to perform on the band’s album, Brotherhood. Growing up on influencers ranging from Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, ZZ Top, Robin Trower, Joe Walsh, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, they’ve taken all these diverse elements and forged a new iron. Matt’s guitar playing was recognized globally when he joined rock legends Bon Jovi as their guitarist on their 2015 stadium tour of the Far East. As we promised it most certainly will be an amazing night of GUITARS, GUITARS, GUITARS!
